Dear PAWS supporter, This letter is to update you on the progress of PAWS and to Welcome all the new members. Please be assured that your contributions and support to PAWS are continuing to be used to fund spay/neuter discount coupons, education programs, meeting ads, and pursue the multi-county animal care center. Spay and neuters contributed to by Paws to date is 151. This has saved many thousands of unwanted births by them and their offspring, and reduced the suffering that abandoned and unwanted animals experience. The public health and safety is also protected as these animals are not vaccinated and can become aggressive, contract and spread rabies and other diseases. PAWS Pet Placement Assistance Program has been created to help people find pets and homes for pets until we have a shelter in place so that we can receive animals. We keep a list of animals and their owners/caregivers so that when people call wanting a cat or a dog we can get them in touch with them directly. We also have a site on Petfinder.com where any of the animals that people have submitted photos or information on are on the national network. This helps in placing many animals and information on how to get onto the site is available from our Pet Placement Assistance Program. The representatives of TRICA (Tri-County Alliance),the board of commissioners and city councils in Early, Miller, and Seminole recently held their first joint meeting being coordinated by Mr. Corey Thomas, city manager of Colquitt. The second meeting is being coordinated by Blakely members. Your representatives are as follows; - Early County Commission - Mr. Jody Glass, assisted by Ms. Debra McNeal
- Blakely City Council - Mr. Andy Smith
- Seminole County Commission - Mr. Thomas (Tommy) Rogers
- Donalsonville City Council - Ms. Kay Adams
- Miller County Commission - Ms. India Taylor, assisted by Ms. Donna Brock

All the veterinarians in the three counties support the PAWS plan and have devoted their time and facilities to our tremendously successful spay/neuter discount coupons and programs, please support them; - Seminole County - Drs. Cleve and Les Bridges
- Dr. Jerry Mitchell
- Miller County - Drs. Russ Henley and Kris Ann Fazio
- Early County - Drs. Ken Payton and Susan Ard
Georgia State Representative Hugh Broome, Jr. has joined PAWS and is drafting a letter of support for us, he also recruited our youngest member to date, his 2 week old grandson. May his grandson, one day, take pride in his grandfather''s forward-looking vision. Dr. Susan Ard reported that she had met with Secretary of State Cathy Cox and that Ms. Cox, a native of Bainbridge, felt that PAWS was an excellent plan and that grants are available for multi-county efforts. Ms. Cox also volunteered one of her staff to assist when the grants are applied for by the multi-county board. Paws started with an ad in the Donalsonville News in September of 2003 and since then has grown overwhelmingly in citizen support and government commitment. The long-term plan of a central shelter, control officers, and ordinances along with PAWS handling adoptions, foster homes, spay/neuter and education is our goal. Your membership in PAWS is crucial to our success, tell others about how they can join and be counted by the representatives of the commissions and councils. Membership forms may be obtained at the area veterinarian''s offices or call PAWS at 524-8890. The next PAWS meetings are as follows: - Early County: Thursday July 15th at 6:30 pm at Albany Tech.
- Flyer Design Meeting: June 3rd at 6:30 pm at Albany Tech.
